Creating an Admin/Service User

After you install the JAMS Web Client, you can log in and you are prompted to create an admin/service account. This admin/service user account will have full permissions within the application, and it can be used to set up user authentication. However, it cannot add Access Control Entries (ACE) to JAMS objects.

You can create only one admin/service account from the setup link that is listed below. This admin/service user is not connected to a Credential within JAMS. This account must be a separate user account that does not match any existing user account or an account that is used to log in to JAMS.

note

When the JAMS Web Client is installed, it creates a self-signed certificate. You may be prompted to accept an error message indicating the connection is not using HTTPS.

  1. Go to https://localhost/setup. If an admin/service user has already been configured, you will be redirected to the home page for the Web Client.
  2. If you are prompted to accept the self-signed certificate, click Advanced and then Proceed to localhost (unsafe). The message may vary by browser.
  3. On the New JAMS Web Installation screen, enter a username and password for the service/admin user.
  4. Click CREATE.
  5. On the Log in screen, enter your username and password. By default, the username is set to jamsadmin.
  6. Click LOG IN. The screen will refresh and display the Home screen.

Next Step

After you have logged in, configure the authentication method to enable other users to log in. See Configuring Authentication for information on the Identity Provider and User Federations options for logging in users.
