Canceling a Monitor Entry

You can cancel a Job directly from the Monitor in the JAMS Web Client. You may want to cancel a Job that is no longer needed or is behaving unexpectedly. Canceling a Job that is running or waiting stops it from executing. Canceling a Job that has already completed removes its Entry from the Monitor view; the Entry remains accessible in History.

note

All Jobs can be canceled, including jobs in error states (Fatal, Error, Timed). Canceling a completed Job removes it from the Monitor, it does not delete the historical record.

Use the following steps to cancel a single Entry.

  1. Open the Monitor.

  2. Select the Entry you want to cancel by clicking its row.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Click Cancel in the toolbar.
    • Click the in Actions column on the entry row and select Cancel.
The Cancel Job drawer opens and displays the following details about the selected entry: Job name, Entry ID, Submitted By, Submitted At, and Scheduled to Start.
  4. Configure the following options as needed:

    • Force Job to abort - Disabled by default. When disabled, the Job is asked to stop cleanly and the system waits for acknowledgment. Enable this option to terminate the Job immediately without waiting for a response. Use this option only if the Job is unresponsive or you need it stopped right away.
    • Reprocess Completion - Re-completes the Job at a selected severity level. This is needed to cancel a Job that has already reached a final state because those Jobs are no longer executing. Canceling them removes the Entry, and Reprocess Completion lets you set the recorded outcome.
    • Audit Trail Comment - Enter a note explaining why you are canceling the Job. This comment is recorded in the Entry's Audit Trail.
    • Completion Severity - Sets the severity level recorded when the Job is canceled.
  5. Click Confirm Cancel to proceed, or Dismiss to close the drawer without making changes.

The drawer closes. For active Entries, the Entry's status updates in the Monitor to reflect the state. For completed Entries, the Entry is removed from the Monitor.

Additional Notes

  • Bulk cancelation is not available. You can cancel only one entry at a time.
  • Force Abort is irreversible. If you force abort a Job, it is terminated immediately. There is no confirmation step once Confirm Cancel is clicked.
  • Canceled entries remain in History. Canceling a completed Job removes it from the Monitor but does not delete its record. You can review it in the History view. Canceling a Job in an incomplete state (Executing, Held, Dependency Wait, etc.) lets it remain in the Monitor.
