Releasing a Monitor Entry
You can release a Monitor Entry directly from the JAMS Web Client. Releasing an Entry moves it out of a hold or wait state so it can proceed to execution. You can also release a completed or failed Entry to run it again.
The release options presented depend on the current state of the selected entry. JAMS automatically shows only the options that apply. You do not need to determine which options are valid. Options that do not apply to the Entry's state will not appear.
Before You Begin
- The Entry must be in a state that supports release, such as held, waiting on a dependency, or completed.
Releasing a Monitor Entry
Use the following steps to release a single Monitor entry.
-
Open the Monitor.
-
Select the Entry you want to release by clicking its row.
-
Do one of the following:
- Click the Release button in the toolbar.
- Click the in Actions column on the entry row and select Release.
The Release drawer opens and displays the following details about the selected entry: Job name, Entry ID, Submitted by, Submitted at, and Scheduled to start.
-
Select the release option as needed. Only options applicable to the entry's current state are shown. Possible options include:
- Release from manual hold — Releases an Entry that was placed on manual hold.
- Release from timed wait — Releases an entry that is waiting for a scheduled time, allowing it to run immediately.
- Ignore Prerequisites — Releases the Entry and bypasses any unmet prerequisites so it can run immediately.
- Ignore Resource Requirements — Releases the Entry and bypasses any unmet resource requirements so it can run immediately.
- Release from wait with retry — Releases the Entry and allows it to retry.
- Release from wait — Releases an Entry that is waiting on a dependency or condition.
- Release to run again — Releases a completed or failed Entry to run again from the beginning.
-
Optionally, enter an Audit Trail Comment to record the reason for the release. This comment is stored in the Entry's Audit Trail.
-
Click Confirm Release to proceed, or Dismiss to close the drawer without making changes.
The drawer closes. The Entry's state updates in the Monitor to reflect the release. No separate confirmation message is displayed. The updated status in the Monitor row confirms that the release was successful.
Additional Notes
- Bulk release is not available. You can release only one Entry at a time.
- Options are state-dependent. If an expected release option does not appear, the Entry may not be in a state that supports it. Verify the Entry's current status in the Monitor before attempting to release it.
- "Release to run again" re-executes the Job from scratch. The original Entry's history is preserved. A new Entry is created in the Monitor for the re-run.
