Holding a Monitor Entry

You can place a Monitor entry on manual hold directly from the JAMS Web Client. When you hold an Entry, it does not proceed to execution until you explicitly release it. This is useful when you need to pause a Job temporarily, such as while a dependency is resolved or a system is being prepared. You cannot place a hold on Entries that are executing or have already completed.

note

Holding an Entry does not cancel it. The Entry remains in the Monitor in a held state. To allow it to run, you must release it. See Releasing a Monitor Entry.

Use the following steps to place a single Monitor entry on hold.

  1. Open the Monitor.
  2. Select the Entry you want to hold by clicking its row.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Hold button in the toolbar.
    • Click the in Actions column on the entry row and select Hold.
The Hold drawer opens and displays the following details about the selected entry: Job name, Entry ID, Submitted by, Submitted at, and Scheduled to start.
  4. Optionally, enter an Audit Trail Comment to record the reason for the hold. This comment is stored in the Entry's Audit Trail.
  5. Click Confirm Hold to proceed, or Dismiss to close the drawer without making changes.

The drawer closes. The Entry's status updates in the Monitor to reflect the held state. No separate confirmation message is displayed. The updated status in the Monitor row confirms that the hold was applied successfully.

Additional Notes

  • A held Entry must be manually released to run. Placing an Entry on hold prevents it from executing until you release it. See Releasing a Monitor Entry.
  • Bulk hold is not available. You can hold only one Entry at a time.
